My wife got a sore throat two days ago, tested positive yesterday. I tested negative at two o'clock then around nine I was suddenly freezing cold and piling a sweater on. Took paracetamol and immediately got a stabbing pain in the kidney. Went to bed around eleven and stayed in bed feeling like utter carp until half past three. Wife is already feeling much better. Has anyone else had it recently? If so, how long did it last?
We haven't done badly, we've avoided it for two years, so can't complain but it is miserable.

my work lads have all had it...3 to 5 days feeling rough then get better. i had it a year ago and just felt like flu. drink plenty and stay home with Netflix

I had it a couple of weeks ago, but very mild. Felt sort of hungover for a day, mostly back to normal the day after, but felt weary, not ill just a bit below par, this was for few days. Tested positive for 10 days.

I'm definitely not going to attempt doing anything clever. At the moment even Netflix feels like too much work! Sigh. Rest up and wait it out then. Glad it's not a long lasting variant. Thanks for the replies.

Got it back in mid Nov 2019 long before it was officially admitted by China , had spent the long week end of Halloween in Stratford upon Avon . The place was over run with sweaty Chinese especially the lovely Chinese restaurant adjacent to the old hotel . Three days late a six hour flu type episode then nothing at day nine I was gasping for breath blood oxygen down to 93 , GP came & made a home visit , . He didn't know what it was other than some sort of serious viral attack , thankfully put me on a high dose of respiratory antibiotics and a mid level dose of 28 days on steroids .
It took me over eight months to get start getting over the long covid side effects of muscle pains , shortness of breath & not being able to get my head together. roughly 15 months passed and things almost returned to normal till I got struck again four weeks before I had the vaccination
.Got wacked again three weeks before the booster felt really rough for a fortnight .

This last one in early June 2022 ( tested positive ) happened along with an intense reaction to a high dose of antihistamine ... nine days chained to the bog . Lost 9 Kg . A& E paramedics attending twice .. last occasion 8 hrs on a drip in the back of an ambulance out side A&E ( no entry till they discovered what was wrong with me ) , hooked up to various monitors and must have had a dozen blood samples taken , but lots of serious clean up's by the Nurses in the " PITSTOP " location . by A&E . Had a CT scan from neck to knees that's when they got the results of the stool samples & blood tests back .. the sewers had backed up internally & were slowly poisoning me . No wonder I felt so bad .

Once the antibiotics for the small intestine infection and pain meds were eventually sorted & I'm sent home in a nappy sat on a incontinence bed draw sheet , I had another week of gut pain a few desperate squirty poops and a fair bit of muscle spasms in my arms , back & legs . I'm feeling much better but still have the forearm muscle pains first thing in the morning for a few hours . Now on a much reduced dose of daily antihistamines things appear to be settling.

Had it this April. Like a bad cold with an incredibly bad sore throat. Lasted about 6 days but I worked every day. And I haven't had any jabs.

I had it in march. Massive anticlimax. Less bother than a standard cold.

My neighbour had it at the same time and said it was the illest she has ever felt.

I totally think it's just luck of the draw.

That's me, but it's been 36 hours and it hasn't packed up yet. Head is splitting, feverish and like you, necking water. Wife just had a throat like golf balls but is already over it

Me too now and I'm getting the squits just to ad to the fun, it's stopping me from coughing so much though I just daren't do it

Had it end of 2019, worst sore throat I have ever had, headaches and so much muck in my throat I almost chocked. Still suffering with long covid from it, high blood pressure, hypertension, higher body temperature and brain fog. Got my second infection in March this year, weird feeling throat, but not sore, same muck in the throat, 2 days of symptoms, 10days from first positive to first negative.
