filling mates bottles.

I have a BOC account for my argo..light. A mate has a bottle he wants filled. If I read it correctly, I will only be able to get a refill on my own account i.e argoshield light size Y. is that correct?

Yep, you can only exchange your own cylinder, the size and type is registered to your account and anything different being presented to them will be taken off you, even swapping identical cylinders belonging to your mate is pretty much finished nowadays with the new barcode tracking system,

very good point Paul, hadn't considered bar codes. To be fair, our local supplier is run by a young lady who would struggle to move a cylinder let alone lift the ****** so she says put the empty over there and get your full one from this cage but I guess codes can be read at any time. I think they would probably sell more gas by cutting out the black market merchants simply by not charging such high rental, like mobile phone providers and broadband suppliers, a one off payment and registration. Maybe the old licence style was so abused, it was the only way they could do it.

I changed a couple of bottles a few weeks ago and they read the bar codes on the ones coming in and going out.

looks like the might accept a different bottle after all then by what they are saying or am i not reading it properly


It is important to note that if you have swapped or inadvertently changed cylinders with another BOC customer, all returned cylinders are removed from the account upon which they were originally supplied, not from the returning account.

If cylinders are moved around within a customers’ own organisation this does not impact the overall holdings as BOC automatically updates the account accordingly.

BOC are more than happy to accsept any boc bottel off you.

the problem is if you swap a bottel for someone else the bottel they supply to you gets added to the bottels on YOUR ACCOUNT

you can rapidly end up with a LOT of bottels on your account that you don't have. they had this happen at work had to have a big sortout of bottels and also no longer use BOC

That's not filling a mates cylinder it's swapping! Back in the dark old days of the 1980's my old man used take our Co2 cylinder out for the day to visit a friend who ran his own welding shop, usually only when they had a fresh cylinder delivery! I found part of the filling adaptor he made earlier this the week, I dismantled it years ago and made a filling station for paintball Co2 cylinders.
