Being new to tiging, I can't say with certainty,
But, we all use different welding sets, some invertors some transformers also the wave makes a diffance.
In order to compare tungstens, should we not be stating what welder we use
look on profiles welders are listed, all 3 should be pretty similar though, an esab a kemppi and a stel, all 200+ amps ac/dc all inverters, shouldn't be much difference regarding tungsten.
I wouldn't overthink tungsten flavours for the time being. Typically your first few hours, days (or even weeks to months) of practice are likely gonna be spent constantly tagging the tungsten. Many of the differences between flavours only really become noticable once you can keep the tungsten out of the weldpool long enough for the tip to degrade by itself
today I spent quite a while welding some 1.5mm stainless, 90amps but with a foot control so a bit less, 1.6 ceriated tungsten resharpened once because it touched while tacking, seem to hold up fine to me.. gotta have a go with some others now to see what the difference is!
