Boot kept popping open of its own accord, YouTube vid showed the problem and the fix, on mine its dead easy slide a thin screwdriver (I used best cutlery) up the side of the switch to depress the clips, it pops out, then replace.
Got one off amazon £15,lasted ten month, started popping open again.
Water ingress?
I fixed one on a micra but that involved chopping into the switch and replacing the micro switch with a maplins one, had too chisel bits off the seating with my aldi dremil and solder it up but after larruping a load of sikaflex on the outer case it's lasted a few years so far.
The fault occurred because Nissan had 'waterproofed' the switch with something that looked like used chewing gum.
Anyway, the fiesta switch is different but I'm wondering if a Liberal smear of Sika would work around a new switch?
Does the inside of the fiesta fitting have the same type of microswitch, the gap is so small any damp /condensation seems to be triggering them for fun.
This is the back of the new one
