Why would it be showing / reporting 28/32M download but only giving 6.5 to each computer then ? it had been working fine up till the engineer disconnected me!I think it had learned the line charecteristics and they had been cached in your modem, and would have been retrained in the forthcoming days
Sort of kind of, its not all at the customer end too, and there's profiles which define how your shaped and all sorts of complexity, I'm not going to discuss its inner workings but I found this already out there that discusses it in detail.it works on line attentuation and signal to noise ratio
basically if there is a bad connection then the line will become "noisier" and the modem will slow down to ensure a stable connection - akin to speaking slower in a noisy environment to make sure the other party can understand you.
