Fiat fan plays up

I bought myself a Doblo microcamper a few weeks ago (another thread to follow this one soon).
A small problem I missed the fact that the fan only works on setting no4. A mate who knows these things says this a common thing, a resistor fails and 4 is the default setting.
I had the resistor replaced under warranty and it was fine for a week or so and has failed again.
Im guessing that there might be a fault somewhere else in the system. does anybody have an idea what might be causing this?
I know less that B'all about vehicle electrics so Im stumped

That means there is a higher than normal current passing. It usually means a new fan motor. You could check if it is tight, sometimes a bush can cause that but it will probably go again.

Seizing motor, blocked pollen filter, or the resistor connectors melt.

If its anything like the Vauxhalls from the 90s the motor bearings dry out, it draws more current blowing the resistor pack and in turn its on the limit of the fuse/contacts in the fuse box which burn and overheats the contacts compounding the issue

how old a doblo? the ones like the vauxhall combo are prone to a pin in the plug for the resistor burning. repair plugs available from most motor factors.

Could be the thermal fuse on the resistor pack. Just put a solder link across it. The solder will act as a thermal fuse, but at a slightly higher temperature,
