FFC (Flat Flexible Cable) connector identification.

I have a capacitive touch screen that I would like to make use of, but it has a 6 way FFC and I need to find a way to utilise it preferably without having to have a PCB made for the job. If I read it correctly, it is a 6 way 0.5 pitch I need? Is there any sort of conversion connector to 2.54m?

Make sure you get the orientation right, FFC connectors only have contacts on one side. Thickness can come into it too.

I think you'll be lucky if you can find one but if it's for prototyping then you could just solder some leads on.

You can (with care) solder directly onto the ribbon but I wouldn't advise it.

For fanning out the connections to 0.1" pitch, Roth and a few others do adaptor boards, I'll dig out the details at the same time.

That was extremely helpful, thank you muchly. I found a suitable part on Ebay in UK stock so at the weekend I could be playing and getting even more frustrated!
