Ferm 150/1 conversion

Hi, im new to the forum and after some advice if possible.

I have a ferm 150/1 mig, its quite old but does the job. I recently did a mb15 euro torch conversion that all went well.

How ever, i use flux cored wire as most of my welding is outside and it dont look like i can switch the polarity easy, it looks to me that the torch is positive and from what ive read it needs to be negative when using flux cored wire?

Can i just switch the connectios inside the machine or will this cause damage?

Welcome to the forum.

Normally it's just a case of swapping the wires from the rectifier over at the torch and earth connections, but some machines use the power to the torch as one side of the trigger circuit, although the Eurotorch conversion probably doesn't. Do you have the circuit diagram of the machine?

Have you tried using cored wire with the connections the wrong way round? My old Clarke actually worked better this way than the correct way.

Im finding it very hard to find any info on this machine, i can take photos of the inside if that helps?

I know nothing about how welders operate or setup, i put a multimeter across it and it showed 35dc volt? i just use it to weld exhaust pipes, brackets and plates.

Photos may help - it could be that it's a badged version of another machine and someone may recognise it!
