I pulled out a load with a digger we had on hire. They were in around 2' but snapped flush with the top of the concrete. I had some twisted 40x8 flat bar I had twisted up previously to make land anchors, hammered them in to the centre of the post a good bit, attached a chain and pulled them out with the digger. The new posts went down the same hole and were tight as a gnats chuff when in.
