Fastening bed to brick wall

Im building a bed.
The back rail is a 10ft scaffolding board (225x36mm) which i want to fasten to the (brick) wall and not using posts.
(front rail will have two posts, 1m apart, so ends cantilevered)

Im thinking two rows of 125mm screws spaced 300mm apart into wall plugs. (so 16? ish screws)

Overkill? Underkill?
Wall is plastered, so i wont be using adhesive.

And no, im not that tall - ill be adding an entertainment centre to one end.

There are bricks and bricks... If your wall is strong and solid I'm sure your method is sufficient. Equally a few rawl bolts would be sufficient. I've hung hammocks on rawl-Bolt hooks (only one each end, 75mm long) into single skins of cavity walls... Totally secure. Your weak points are brick type and wall bonding.

Rock hard - hammer drill wont touch em, and sds bits dont last long.

I suppose i know the answer to my own question, better than anyone who's not local!

I'd be tempted to rawl bolt a length of angle to the wall and sit the timber on that with some screws to hold it in place. Might be less work and more secure?

Sounds like your bricks are good and solid... Whats the mortar like?

I prefer chemical anchor, from my experience the expanding bolts have a propensity to move.

Rather than 300mm go outside and measure the bricks and try and work it so you hit the middle of every other brick. I'd also bond it to the wall even if it is to plaster.

If its a house in Middleton with engineering bricks it'll be fairly old i'd put money on it not having a cavity, plus bigegg's already said i'ts a bitch to drill

You can hang 4 ton on a 2" 10, depending on the substrate

I'd bang 4 100mm hammer fixings in and that would be over kill, too many fixings might damage the wall

A good quality SDS bit will do it. Thunderbolts, Ankerbolts or whatever make you go for will do the job with no fuss.

Drilled a few of them in my time! Like bell metal.

find the mortar joints and drill them if u cant drill the bricks

Easy, four Anchor bolts with 6x2 timber would do the trick. I have drilled Accy brick and G Lever brick which arehard brick with Makita SDS drill and bits many a time.

I would use them concrete screw what's it's, all my shelves in the workshop with them and I wouldn't like to think how mutch weight is on them.
