fan assisted oven

Not welding but hope someone can help. I use a small curing oven & want to fit a fan to it . Im looking at the oven motors & fans on ebay. They have 2 spade connectors on the motor. would i be able to just fit a plug & lead to these so i can switch the fan on when i need it?

it should have an earth connection on the body or legs of the motor aswell so i would say yes. a domestic oven fan motor just runs off the mains but goes through a rotary switch. it would depend on where you're fitting the motor though as they tend to be fitted outside of the oven cavity (to protect it from excess heat) with the spindle coming through a hole in the rear of the cavity, then the fan attached to the spindle and a cover plate to stop anything fouling the fan. there's probably a load of regulations and warranty conditions on the oven to say you can't though.

Thanks for that. The motor will be mounted on the outside of the oven & boxed in. so just put 2 spade connectors on to a lead & connect to motor ?

get him to check it for electrical safety aswell once it's fitted, resistance to earth and short circuit. an rcd might be a good idea with two cables going to one appliance. and stand behind him when he switches it on
