Many many moons ago I learned gas welding and brazing, and then in the early eighties I had a go at welding fairly heavy pipework with an equally heavy arc welder. This year I have embarked on doing up a1993 Mini for my son. I have purchased a Cosmo150 Mig with which I have practiced on good metal and some of the bits I've cut away. All was well until I started for real, various patterns of weld emerged, welds nowhere near the joint, holes and so on. One of the problems I have is that through the welding mask all I see is a faint green glow from the are of the tip. I take it there are different strengths of lenses. If so what is the optimum for this type of work. I've pretty much got the sound and feel sussed and have some pretty welds, however many of them ended up to far away from the joint. Many of my friends think I'm mad taking this sort of thing on this late in life but hey it's agood excuse for avoiding other things. Any advice tips woulb be very much appreciated.
