Probably an identity harvest.

They know which profiles are active and have details for them because they reply. Possibly even get likes and follows as well, which I believe you can then sell. Somehow.

I hate everything about facebook but the market place seems to be the place everyone goes so at 58 I thought I would join to sell some stuff, tried a couple of months ago and after a couple of days while I got approved they banned me for life!! I hadnt even put a post up or had a chance to do anything! hey ho perhaps it was for the best...

I dont see any banner ads at all on the pc, as ive got various plug ins for various stuff (fb/youtube/landyzone is a cesspit of ads, etc) but the phone is a different matter....

I keep meaning to set up pihole as that will do the lot, i think.

Just added that, it seems pretty damned good, the adverts were driving me nuts.

Is that not the way a lot of people advertise stuff coz they have to put a price on to list it but they don't want too. Like £1234 etc.

one advertisor was selling a Parkside plasma cutter for £230 plus, on sale originally at less than £150…and it was collect only…I appreciate a bit of capitalism,but that was just taking the ****

You didn't buy it because you thought it was too dear, until he finds the price point to make a sale it remains his. Capitalism is alive and well.

I was getting ads for flick knives, now it seems to be 6ft tool cabinets for £82, Hydraulic bike benches for £82, someone would have to be as dumb as a box of bricks to believe they were genuine.

Aye, a LOT of those ads, inc electric bikes recently - just don't click on the 'Sponsored' ads.

Ive bought and sold loads of stuff on market place, but find a better response from the dedicated xyzforsale groups. Always deals face to face though.

likemost things you get dross and scams. It is what itis…but free….never bother with ebay for selling now

Just don't try selling on FB unless your housebound and never leave the house...you will be waiting till hell freezers over for the buyer who makes arrangements after saying "please keep it for me". Recently using the wifes account selling a few bits i became to hate the human race and there dis-regard for your time and patience Delete it Graham before it puts you back in hospital,its the Devil spawned .

Yep, FB purity and Brave browser ( yes I do go on about it but it just works so well ) for an easy uncomplicated web experience.

I have only used FB for less than a year i sell on there but my adverts always say if the adverts live its still for sale and i give detailed info, i normally say read the advert as i won't answer questions that are already stated, it just saves time.
