Facebook page advertising ?

Hi all, well what a few months it has been with the new venture setting off and also another one coming to light tat i was looking into last year but got disheartened.

I opened a page on Facebook for what work i am offering but i am always wary of what to do when it comes to offers that businesses send me and ask me take on.

I would like to spread the word more on Facebook as i have been told by a few folk that it is a good place to get free advertisements going and to show what you are offering.

Myself i find Facebook hard work to set out and work with. You add something , say a job you have just done and it does not go to the top. Unless other folk see it differently.

They keep offering `a add team` ` boost post` ` promote` and get an `admin team` going


Are any of these any good, or just a way for the to get your money as there are fee`s, not that it matters as long as it not just a sort of con?

Waste of time for me, I get people saying "ive bought a boiler from a mate and been told it will be £200 to ave it fitted, can u do it?"

I wouldn't id reply snap there hand off and give me there number and they can fit all of mine and il take a rake off on it. then put the phone down I'm fortunate as I mainly get recommendation jobs and I don't advertise

I have pics of the boat i have been working on for a few years and a blog that i can add to the page.
Budget not thought about for advertising.
I have jobs in wait to be done in the next month or so.
I dont have a website yet, not sure if its worth it from what i have been told up to know
I am mobile as i work on boats in situ so no land address as such for the business or landline.

You me both, it does my had in, but if it gets business il have to work it out and put up with it

I think i need more boat`y friends to like and share i guess.

you need lots more likes

then you can post up a photo, 'promote' it and set it to show that post to the people who liked your page and their friends

then loads more people will see it, and hopefully like it


don't just promote to anyone/everyone, it's a con, all the likes/views you'll receive are from bots in china/india etc. (not real people)

I ask as when out and about i see there symbol on vans etc, as do i FB symbol.

Gumtree is quite useful for advertising your trade. Just post an add in the relevant section and it's free plus there's none of the Facebook rubbish.

It's not free to advertise a service Cheap as chips and well worthwhile though..
It's also great for getting hits on Google as searches pick it up geographically. Used to run 3 or 4 adds at a time carpenter in milton keynes/bedford/etc etc and searching for carpenter mk would always pull my add of page one. Must start doing that again.

Try and be a specific as possible with targeted adds on fb. Plenty of keywords and use locations with marinas etc nearby. All well and good getting likes but you need to be liked by the right people.
