Hi all, Im pretty new to this forum but very impressed with what Ive read so far.Ive got a mig,c02 but nowhere to weld unless you can count the overfull garage.So Im thinking of building a workshop at the end of the garden and as this is still in the planning stages how about some pics of your workshops for inspiration.

Wow ! The plans for my workshop have just doubled. The wifes not going to be happy but at least she'll be able to get to the washer, dryer, fridge, freezer, pushbikes and all the rest of the things that a garage is used for nowadays.

Buy a crappy instant shed, declare it "their shed" and throw anything thats not directly yours in there, the garage will soon look much roomier. If you wish to really reinforce the point, make sure you have the only key to the garage and if you happen to leave the country for a few months, take it with you ( I seriously got a phone call asking me where the key was, "in my pocket" , big silence ) Oh and dont forget to complain about the amount it cost, after all you haven't spent the money on your own stuff have you, and that way you can feel less guilty when you spend loads on a nice plasma cutter

Hardly inspirational

Notice the strategically-placed fire extinguisher , has been used a few times (refilled with water.)

In the midst of rearranging things. With the trailer load of welding equipment, I have no room.

Finally got the Airco set up (orange beast in pict on left). Compressor under bench.

4 motorcycles, '88 mustang that needs tank dropped for fuel pump and engine rear seal. My little Clarke is on the right of gray cabinet, Lincoln and Miller welders to left.. the tanks. Grey cabinet and heater (just to the left) used to be where the Airco is. Need to move all kinds of things around to make room.

Up close is my $96 '82 GPz550 (my almost mint '83 just behind it.) Was a parts bike, but a few gaskets, a paint job and a lot of cleanup and it will be good as new.

Worst of all, I need room to pull the Jeep in and drop the tranny to change clutch slave cylinder. The green '01 ZX6R in the center is my main transport until i can get Jeep fixed.

A garage is where you park cars. Ok, there is vehicles stored here. But, it is far more a workshop than a garage.

Oh, there are welding projects, the GPz by the bench had brackets welded back on, the hidden ZX600R Ninja will have frame welded and monoshock rewelded.

Luckily, no rust buckets to deal with Even the "Rustang" is new enough to not rust out ('88.)

Actually, here it is illegal to have a detached building without a special zoning variance. Would love a large storage shed to keep crap in. "He who dies with the most stuff wins" I'm a leader in my income bracket

I agree but try telling that to most forum members!!! Actually we in rattyland don't have any sort of garage, our vehicles live out, I have a workshop/studio and lots of sheds but for the sake of the forum I shall call it 'me garridge' and shall..at some point...post a few picks therein. Or maybe start a new one so there's no confusion and call it...um..show us yer mess?

Ill take that challenge too, Ive avoided posting pictures of my workshop second story, the garage and the storage sheds in the fields so far
Can we count stuff dossed inside vans parked forever in the field too?
And what about all my bits n bobs round other peoples houses...

I feel the same about all my rubbish sometimes!!
I'd love to chuck it out, but it's either:
1) Useful now
2) May be useful at some point in the future
3) Cost me money
4) May be useful to someone else in the future
5) Will cost me to get rid of

Ditto! (but mostly #2) I always say, "It's not rubbish if it's organised" i.e. if I know where it is! The trouble with having a sort out is once you've chucked it you remember it and that's always just the thing you need. (Even worse if you don't remember chucking it and look for days. "I just know I've seen that little ceramic'y thing with a brass thread and a wotsit on the LH side" )
