External Torch Coolers

Been looking at the Parweld external torch cooler. The smaller 250 amp mig set doesnt have an inbuilt cooler like the others, and we keep frying shrouds/torches.
Has anyone used one, and experience of the coolers, do they have a duty cycle, or will they run all day, everyday?

I never used a factory built unit, for TIG (I built my own) but I have used them on Spot welding machines and I've had the cables sooo hot that you could not touch them, (as they were not water cooled), but the heads were, and the water was tepid to the touch in the header tank. We returned that unit as the duty cycle was crap

The one we have now has water cooled cables as well as head, and that is just the same, tepid to the touch.

If they can put up with that sort of abuse then they will be more than capable of running a TIG all day.

It just gets me where they come up with the prices for them

Pretty easy to make - similar to a suds tank on a machine tool. I'm about to stick one together for my tig. The ones I've had in the past can run all day (Miller). Tank with pump in and fittings for watercooled torch, back through car radiator or similar into tank from the torch return pipe. Not worth a lot of money in my opinion - depends how rushed you are though...

Does water run in the lance and through the torch? Is this how they work?
