External temperature gauge "question".

Howdo all.

I'm after purchasing such a thing for my OH's car, preferably the kind that I can mount in a pod on the dash top, hardwired and backlit. I've tried the cheap nasty lighter-socket types from fleabay but have almost lost the will to live I've trawled the webnet but am stuck, apart from a genuine Freightliner gauge. (I'd love to but it's probably some weird american voltage )

Any suggestions??

im not sure, but a coolant temp sensor might work hooker up to a temp guage. Another way is to get a sender from the likes of an audi that has them in the front grill and check what voltages it puts out at a known temp (use a thermometer) and see if it will wirk with a guage, you can get nice lcd ones cheap.
