External cladding/insulation

I have an old house to renovate.
The pine end needs hacking off and re rendering.
It is a cavity wall but it is very exposed. High winds and driving rain so cavity wall insulation not recommended.
Is there some external stuff I could use that does both jobs?
Finish needs to be white quartz type pebbledash.

Don't do it

I was involved in this for a length of time, it is without doubt a bodge and causes more problems than it solves

I would argue done properly it's superb, but I'm talking new build like you say old house's it a disaster.


No doubt the insulate Britain lot have no solution to the problems they will cause.

as posted via my damp proof post the internal side does work

but im not a lover of the composite stuff more so when its non biodegradable it will not degrade if buried

internally it can be dangerous fumes and a fire hazard and you lose amount of space off the rooms 5" off external walls

the plus side of it well it insulates well can keep it cool or warm with lower heating bills but if that area gets warm it can be a git to cool down

ive taken off all the cement render and its been repointed the last part was to spray it with water reppelant

but needs to be done every 2 years for a respray

this method used on internal external walls
nothing to fasten too method
first pic is before clean off of the plaster
second and third pic grant applied insulation just glued onto the wall

2nd internal method

this one used for underground insulation with a french drain

you can see this due to the window where ground level is just below window level

insulation plasterboard installed 70mm with 4x2s for the framing
