Not a good start to the day! I woke up this morning to find that the expanding foam I put around a new window had oozed all over the frame. Any suggestions on how to get it off now that's it dry - without eating the upvc.
Cut off as much as you can with a sharp blade, then go over with something like a single edge razor blade to remove as much as possible without digging into the pvc.
Don't use acetone, nail varnish remover, cellulose thinners etc etc.
Stuff like wd40, sticky label remover, swarfega etc will be a waste of time and might leave a residue which will make it difficult for the proper stuff to work.
I would have a run out to one of the industrial estates that always seem to have a UPVC place and buy the right stuff, it's bound to exist I would imagine.
A quick update, Don't bother with the Everbuild cured foam remover - lets just say it doesn't do what it says on the tin Now I am going to try some of the Soudal stuff -here's hoping.
i had to remove masses of it from a job where some tool had used open cell foam to insulate between OSB...lets just say the OSB was that damp it came off like wallpaper...
i ripped it all off with a scraper and then doused the remainder in wd40...seemed to just come off like slugde after that...
Firstly leave it to degrade in the uv light. You shouldn't take the tape off the frame for this reason
Foam shouldn't be used to fix frames only a gap filler for the above reason - it degrades and your Windows fall out or become very loose
If they are white some cream upvc cleaner will remove the rest
Don't use blades
For the record the Soudal stuff hasn't fared much better. I have come to the conclusion that given the amount of time I have spent trying to get this stuff off it would have been cheaper, easier to replace the window with another new one. Lesson well learned !
