Exhaust paint

Just bought a new exhaust and want to paint it black or dark grey before fitting. Does anyone have a paint recommendation?

Does any exhaust paint last Never yet seen one that does, only finish I have seen stay on exhaust manifolds is that ceramic coating.

This stuff, I use this on 2stroke exhausts it gives a nice smooth finish. Better than any VHT paint I used before

Have them aluminium sprayed, it lasts pretty good.

VHT you get that in haflefrauds or the local fluffy dice shop don't you.

This photo bugs me, why go to all the effort of making that engine look really tidy and then leave the alternator untouched? all kidding aside that looks really good.

Cuthy ..it s worse than that havent you noticed plug leads 3 and 4 cross over and there is no radiator cap ,I think its a work in progress. ha (only joking ian f,looks good .)

have also noticed some mole grips above oil fill. Pretty sure they are not factory standard......

Getting back to paint, I have tried both Simoniz and hammerite VHT, both utter s***

you're all so mean
that photo was taken just after getting it running for the first time in 7 years. i knew the alternator was about knackered and is the wrong type anyway (lucas instead of bosch) on the way back from the mot you could hear the bearings grumbling over the engine so fitted an uprated version

these pics were taken today and the paint is still on there having done about 1200 miles so far

plasti kote also used wilko own brand which is cheaper also good

actually the manifold might be wilko's own and the downpipe in plasti kote or the other way round. i remember i ran out and of one and had to buy the other as they'd run out but can't remember which way but they're both good

I like the colour of the manifold now, but looks like I will be buying two cans too find out which it is !
