No... but if it was just for occasional & not regular extended use - I'd live with it if it worked and was inexpensive.

It was just an idea Fred! Nothing more.
I just suggested it because if it was a job the OP only did very occasionally and just a few items... then the low cost & occasional need to do such a task might have made sense.
In circumstances like I've outlined - then I very likely would decide to try this instead of spending a heck of a lot more on a better bit of kit that would spend 99.9% of the time idle.
Each to their own.

But I have that grapple.
and I have a backhoe, and 2 excavators.
and I use these things to pull logs from my woods.
But not all the time, maybe 1 day every few years.
If you have ever run with a thumb, even a simple fixed one, you will find a way to make/buy/cobble one.
And the thumb does many other things, the grapple is really only a one trick pony, so less payback for the expenditure.
When I suggest something, 99% of the time it's something I have experienced my self.
If not I will state that fact right up front.
Apparently not the rules for the peanut gallery around here.

The original picture of the log grapple is quite an unsophisticated design, requiring manual intervention. With some few modifications, it can be made to latch open until dropped over the log, and then close when lifted. In the road works area, many kerb grabs work that way (https://www.cwplant.co.uk/product/universal-kerb-lifter/). Like I said - steady on, no need to have an aneurism over it
