EWM connection doubt. Help!

My dear friends,
I have a EWM Picotig 180 but it came with the wrong torch, at least the connection is wrong.
Picotig has a tuchel 5 pin but only 3 pins are wired (I attach it's diagram).
As you can see the torch has a micro connector with 5 wires, brown, black and green (in the "3 pins side") and red and white (in the "2 pins side).
I have bough a tuchel connector to make this torch working on my EWM.
This picotig can work with standard 1 button torches and with 2 buttons torches as well.
My torch has 1 button (and a kind of potentiometer control).
Please I need help to wire the tuchel properly!
Of course, this is my first time doing this

Do you have the wiring diagram for the 19 pin plug as that seems to be where a foot pedal connects and the pot on the torch will likely connect there.

I haven't try it because the torch has a different plug. That's why I want to put a tuchel connector to the torch!

I just have the EWM tuchel female wiring diagram.
The torch has a 5 pin "mini" plug it doesn't fit on the EWM

Does your welder have a 19 pin connector on it?

If you just want to get the torch working as a simple 1 button torch just wire up the two wires for the switch. Most likely pins 1 and 2 but if not then 1 and 3.

No, my welder has a tuchel 5 pin connector but as you can see in the attached diagram only 1, 2 and 3 pins are wired. Since this welder can manage 1 and 2 buttons torches, I assume thAT 1 & 2 pins are for one button so 1 & 3 are for the second button (if your torch has it)
My problem is the torch wiring. The torch has 5 pins wired but as you can see on the first photo above it has one button and a kind of potentiometer. I need to put a tuchel plug in that torch, to match my welder female tuchel plug, but I don't know what wires from I have to use for that (the torch has brown, black, green, red and white)
That is my problem

Get a multi meter and test the wires for the torch...pretty easy to determine which ones will be fot the torch switch and which will be for the potentiometer...

Personally I would just get the right torch for the machine, seems a lot easier

Maybe you are right! But I can not find the info about the proper torch for this welder either! Not even in the Manual.
So the wires for the switch should be live and negative. I can see there is no ground on the EWM diagram. So I have to wire only pins 1 and 2 with live and negative... I suppose

It does not matter which way round you connect the torch switch wires as it is just a switch and basically it is just completing a circuit for the welder..

Oh...I see. I am going to try those brown and black wires on pins 1 and 2.
Is there a way of blowing something if I connect the wrong wires?

Unlikely to blow anything if you connect the wires wrong however are you sure the wires to the switch are the brown and black? Often switch wires are red and black.

It is so simple to check with with a multi meter, rather than trying to connect random wires and hoping for the best...you dont never need a meter, a battery and an LED will also work...

How can I check it with a multimeter? Looking for continuity?

Yes...the switch wires will have continuity with the switch active, and no continuity when the switch it off.

Bear in mind it may be a latching switch if it also has current control built in, or that may be a setting required onnthe machine with 2T/4T options

The cables controlling the switch are the red and the black, like Hood suggested.
I have solder those cables to the first to pins of the tuchel, I've plugged to the EWM and no luck so far when I press the switch (I didn't connect the argon to make the test).

Try 1 and 3 then.

You dont need aego to test if a switch is working.

Try 1 wire in pin 3
