Have you "acid'ed" those in the past? The matt appearance of the shanks is what is causing me to ask?
I've got a selection of rusted threading tools and was wondering about a soak, but didn't know if it was a good idea or not?

Yes. Sounds good. Will pm youI think I have a 1" or 1.5" bsf tap. It will be old and rusted but should be usable. Any good?
Hi. I used a light mix of citric . I had them in the citric for a day. Every so often giving them a clean with some small wire brushes. Then dry them and rest them in duck oil. Duck oil is non corrosive but helps to clean em. Every now and then I give em a turn over and a brushHave you "acid'ed" those in the past? i can do if its a strong mix. Have done that beforeI've had the citric eat the steel or carbon in taps, leaving micro fractures
Obliging ones.What kind of ducks do I need to find to get oil off of?
