I've been offered a Nu-Tool 185 amp welder at a very good price , it needs a euro torch . Which one do I need ? and where's the cheapest to buy from in the UK ? ( are the fittings universal ? just the amp ratings are different ? ) Many thanks . Regards Al.
It depends on what your going to be using the welder for, I'd fit an MB25 to that machine, thats a 230 amp torch, if your working in tight spaces an MB15, is a bit smaller but rated at 150 amps, so just below the capacity of the welder.
Thanks for that , I got the welder purely for building a classic hot rod ( pre '76 Hot Rod formula ) so it's going to be used on the Roll cage - a bit tight in car and fabricating 4 link boxes etc for suspension . The max size of metal will be the cage which is 3mm thick tube , so maybe i could get away with the smaller size one ? Regards Al.
Thanks , i've just been on a website and found MB15 's which the manufacturer say are up to 180amps . But i didn't realise that the larger ones were only a few pounds extra anyway - i'd seen some on ebay ( before i knew which size i needed ) and some were £100 . Thanks for the replies . Regards Al.
Torches are normally rated at 60% duty cycle, so if your only intending to weld cars your unlikely to overheat an MB15, just bear mind that if you push the welder near to its limit or are making long runs then a bigger torch would be advised, most of the diy torches are quite light in comparison to a professional torch and they do the job, so I think an MB15 will be fine This one will do the job
