I had problems with a new Esab Tig. The board had gone and we lost the HF function. I think you need to speak to whoever you bought it off. Pennine came and collected it and we had it back within a few days. Not bad to say we bought it off ebay
I have sent it back to people I bought it from they have been great but they have said that there is delay esab end non replays to phone calls and just general not being helpfull. I can well believe this as machine has been done under warranty before and that was hassle to. And after chatting to esab they was very much making me feel like because I had only bought one machine they didn't care.
Don't loose sight of the fact that it is the company you bought it off to sort the problem, not you having to ring Esab.
Keep mithering your supplier to sort the problem.
If its had two problems where it has been returned to the manufacturer its time to tell them to get you something different/a new machine?....
This is where knowing and having a good relationship with suppliers comes in....
Tbh, when our machines go wrong, we tend to use one firm, which is also the main welding supplier we use. Normally a pretty quick turnaround, regardless of what machine. Although that said, none have been repaired under any warranty. Most seem to be age related with ours
Yes although frustrating, manufacturers are not really geared up to deal with end user warranty problems in that sense, especially when the unit has been sold via a distributor.
In most cases your first port of call should always be the place where you bought it.
Again as frustrating as it may seem if you imagine a company as big as Esab might sell hundreds of machines a day world wide so it's not possible to give the personal touch to every single person who calls up with a niggle. You couldn't phone the ford factory up because your Fiesta had a problem. Leave it to the distributor as they often know how to get things moving and who to bollock when things are not happening fast enough.
Your right I just like to be treated the same weather I buy machine or 20 everyone starts off somewhere. The only reason I have phoneys them because it was taking a month and bit the first time and was told the supplier was waiting on parts so I followed it myself as was in need of machine back. Sadly I likes esab machines but now am rapidly getting turned off
You need to keep the pressure on with your supplier.
Sometimes it's not always Black and White. And sometimes you only hear one side of a storey. Are they main agents for Esab or did they source the machine via another distributor?
If you don't mind me asking, what model is it and who did you buy it from?
It is a esab caddy c200i and bought it from wasp welding but like said they been pretty helpfull spoke to them yesterday they said waiting to hear back from area managers for esab the mother board has gone wrong. But slightly worried because that was fixed I'm sure the last time it went in not much longer that 5 months previous, not really used it much since then either. Don't no really what I should be asking for???? If it same problem twice what right have I got?
I had a problem with my esab 2200 tig some time ago, abit more than a year after I got it, called the supplier and they were baffled by the problem and said to call esab, they had a service guy come out run so software updates and restore, but that didn't fix the problem so I rang him back and he collected repaired and delivered it back with in a few days, that was pretty good after sales service.
