ESAB TIGaid help

Hi I'm a newbie here.......
looking at buying a used Esab, TIGaid, 315 amp /240volt..........
question , have seen it say it power's up off a electronicaly controlled MMA welder BUT I only have a 220amp oil cooled Oxrord.......WILL it work ? any probslems ?.......
I can't justify a £1,000 on an AC/DC tig that I will only use occaisionally.........

also, this Oxford welder has a 12volt battey charger built and I think with 3 levals of charge rate....
my question is :- I would like to use the Oxford in a elctro submerged rust removing system using soda cystals.......have seen on the net people using normal car battery chargers but I think they are too delicate for the job ......any ideas.....itend to use a glass fiber tank on wheels, about 200ltr capacity......

I looked up the specs of this and it seems if you want AC Tig (Aluminium welding) you connect it to a transformer type AC welder of which an Oxford Oil cooled welder is, so it should work fine for that.
For DC welding it seems you would require a DC Inverter style welder.

Sorry can't help with the other question.

it's a tigAC DC TIG WELDER ALI S TEEL Tig 200 P WITH PULSE and pedal.....? don't like buying cheap but hey ho...........remember it' just for the odd job.......say 1/2hr at a time....
about the electrolysis amperage, sounds good to me......have a spare if the first blow's up......hahaha......

I had a very bad experience with the rubbish that place sells, first one went on fire straight out the box, second lasted a few hours welding before it too caught fire. I see they now have about 3 or 4 user names on eBay, wonder why

Not sure how much the Esab is but if cheap enough you could use it on the Oxford for AC and get a small inverter for DC. A decent enough inverter such as Parweld would be £150 or so.

You can get a 200A rectifier for about £25 if you don't mind a bit of wiring - then you'll have ac and dc with the Oxford and the esab.

You won't have any up or down slope control, just on/off and gas pre/post.

According to the info I saw it has up and down slope, unless it is a different/older model?

thanks guy's........seemingly it's all getting to complicated for a beginer....I think I want plug and play.....shame really as I have a spare oil filled Oxford under the bench.......if u had to buy a fare priced machine NEW or Used what would u buy.....just advice def no pressure....I'll be welding thin'ish st/st tube and j ally up to 6mm thick.....this is for antique motorcycle and car repairs.......
a Miller would be nide or a proper Esab, just dreamin.........hahaha.....
actualy bought a new Esab Mig prob 40 years ago for auto repairs......nice kit.......

thanks hood, I'm retired and don't earn good money anymore.......I'll just pay somebody to do the welding for me............just can't justify the £1,000.........

It is a lot to spend for something that doesn't pay its way, that is for sure.

£1000 is about the going rate for a Chinese tig with warranty. Second hand you'd be looking at around £600-800.
