They do have a fair inrush current so don't be surprised if it trips a regular breaker anyway
I'm a sparks by trade so I will maybe fit a D type breaker if need be.They do have a fair inrush current so don't be surprised if it trips a regular breaker anyway
It's a shame really because if kept dry it should have outlived me really!I'm not being awkwards, but this is partly why I will never reccomend an old oilcooled welder to anyone.
They're "bulletproof" alright... but that doesn't mean "waterproof"!!
We wrote two of our 3 off completely due to water ingress and rust.
Honestly... your 200 am ac/dc welder will be smoother on most rods, anyway. No need for a big old obselete lump of a thing.
I don't have any suitable oil for it and the cost of transformer oil is crazy! The problem with drying it out is you tend to end up with deposits of rust etc trapped in places.
I would keep it wet, keep all the crud suspended in liquid and push it out with oil.
I did think of using old sunflower oil but it may produce nasty stuff if there are any arcs? I have a jerry can of kero so I can try that?Used veg. oil, for testing purposes?
Don't go making any chips afterwards, mind...
