Esab Origomag C150 Compact Mig Thoughts Please!

Hi all new to this great site
Im after buying a new mig with a budget of around £350 and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experience of this machine? thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum Bigmtj . Don't forget that price is plus VAT. The specs aren't too bad, duty cycle is quite good and it has 7 power settings. The bottom setting is 35A though which is a little on the high side for thin stuff. The Butters AMT 1800 might be worth a look, nice spec and nice build quality too.

Esab are without a doubt a good machine, I would try and extend your budget to the C170 if possible for the spot weld and burn back feature, plus a slightly lower current setting.

I have a Esab power compact 160, I paid £550-00 approx for it around 23 years ago, all I have ever replaced are gas tube shield, welding tips, wire guides on/off the wire feed rollers and the short flexible guide tube to the wire feed unit.

Buy a good quality unit now and reap the benefits over the coming years.

PS. I also had to replace the wire feed control potentiometer, but only because I broke it by dropping an adjustable spanner on it...

I used one sometime ago, a nice simple machine, with build quality what youd expect from Esab.

From memory, it felt smoother than a lot of single pahse migs.

Which other ones are the same, isnt it the Murex machines that are the same?

Murex and Esab are basically the same company, so i guess much of the equipment is the same just with different labels on
