ESAB Filler Wire

Hi Guys,

I'm after some Esab filler wires, ive tried my local welding suppliers, who have either supplied me with something else after specifically requesting ESAB or dont reply to calls and emails. Don't mind paying for postage. For example called a firm earlier who have supplied me with ESAB 7018, asking for ESAB 1.0mm ER70S2, yes we have it in stock. get there and the guy is holding a tube of SIF and wants the best part of £80 for it.

I;m just fed up of being supplied with unknown quality wire. I used ESAB at work and it was always spot on, no matter what tube/batch.

Anyone know a welding supplier that can sort me out? Im after Ali (4043 & 5356), Mild (ER70-S2), & Stainless (316L) in 1.0mm to 2.4mm varying per wire obviously.

Any help appreciated.

I think Esab list their Distributors on their website

I do because many places employ total numpties who know nothing about what they are selling and the most part of thier training comes from clients explaining things to them

I pay more for some stuff and collect from further away it winds me up so much

Plenty of clients who don't know their **** from a hole in the ground too but we can't say that can we?
Just about everywhere will put stuff on a courier and have it to you next day for reasonable money. What's the issue with doing that if your local place is run my inexperienced staff?

Not bashing any dealers. I have great respect for anyone who keeps a shop front opwn in this day and age competing with the internet for sales!
Rapid quoted me but half of the stuff was sif or unbranded when I asked for ESAB. Elmdale didn't reply to my email and when I called I never received the prices they said they would then send to me.
I don't mind paying good money for something if I get the product I asked for and a helpful person on the other end.
If they know what I'm on about when I'm waffling away about arc rods and welders it's a bonus but as long as they're willing to help thats the main thing.

Arc Welding in Birmingham have some of the most knowledgeable staff in the game and are one of the biggest ESAB dealers in the country. Give Terry a call and he'll give you a price there and then over the phone and he'll post to you too for postage cost.

Completely agree. It's certainly not just dealers that are incompetent.
Don't worry about it.
I can gladly say that my experience dealing with RHD was a good one. Bit slow with quotes but hey No body's perfect.

Just to be clear. My post was a compliment.
I've met more clueless welders than I have dealers.
You sorted my application out perfect to the letter with a product that was custom built perfect.
Just so that is crystal clear.

Glad its not just me they are only down the road from me, but i don't even consider them now.
They must have some big account customers somewhere maybe.
I don't know anyone who uses them.

Last time i went in it was almost "computer says no" "But if you want to open an account we can assign you a rep who might be able to help you."

Fair enough if it's mail order but I actually talking about a branch of a local engineers merchant that is owned by a large steel stockholder. Reffering to the manager who tells people he is a welder.
Most sales will be call in not Internet. Honestly I can't send anyone in for my gear and the final straw was when he told me there was no such thing as a 6013

I do still occasionally use them but now go to the next nearest

No issue at all with dealers or sellers - you know I used to be a salesman / sales manager and a respected sales trainer in my " middle working life"
