I have an ERP MIG 150 TURBO welder with a wire feed problem...the problem is i think the roller is worn out as even if i crank down the tension there is no grip on the wire...I have removed the torch and liner and just tried the wire thru the feed it turns and so does the roller bearing but does'nt push the wire thru....i have found what looks to be the same type of roller for a Clarke 150 mig and noticed that the grooves for 0.6 & 0.8 wire are actually knurled... should they be like this on my ERP...looked on net for a replacement and cant actually find a replacement for ERP and also on the Sealy welder which i believe is the same. Any one know the answer or where i can obtain a new one....otherwise i am going to bang it in a lathe and take a few thou of it or try and re knurl it, even tho it shoud be case hardened...cheers for any help

Make sure the idler is square to the roller and the riller surface is clean with no rust..
It should work without knurling. I have made several V-groove rollers and never had a problem. Knurling will wear the liner and tips more as it roughens the wire.
Check the clearance between the idler and roller with the wire installed. If the groove has worn deeper, then taking a few thou off will probably work fine.
Of course, using the 0.8mm grove on 0.6 wire would cause the same problem. Many rollers are marked such that you put the roller side stamped for the wire size on the inside.

Are you sure your mig wire spool is not too tight, And the drive rollers are not strong enough to turn it? Slacken whatever adjustment there is on the spool and try again. only tighten it enough to stop the reel running on when you release the trigger.
thanks for your answers..rollers right way round and tried it on a free piece of wire...wish it was as simple as wrong way round or drum to tight.just got my clarke 120 out and the wire feed is virtually the same the roller is the same O/d as the erp and the I/d is 9mm on clarke and its 10 on the ERP...compared the grooves aswell and they are way shallower on the clarke so for now i'm going to take a little of the roller O/D and see if it works then maybe make one or modify one.....
