Equipment stolen.

Hi, not sure if this is the right place for this, but i was broken into last night (Stoke-on-Trent area), I had my uni dissertation hydraulics stolen as well as gears for my drummond lathe! The hydraulics consisted of 2 "sets" of hoses ie 4 hoses per set and a control valve. If anyone hears of anything I would be greatful of any info!

I'm affraid i've not got any pics, but each set of hydraulics consists of 1/2 2 wire pipe (1m x2 and 2m x2), 1/2 X 1/2M coupling (x2), 1/2 X 1/2F 90deg coupling (x2), 3/8 X 1/2 M coupling (x4), 3/8 X 1/2M adaptor (x2) and male probe 1/2" (x2). The other set is used, made up of odd hoses (one is jcb) and another has white tap on one end. And i know what i'd like to happen to the scum bags....

Do post any photos or identifying features - while they might not be offered to a member others might find it through a google search if they think something is fishy, so any info you can add might be useful.

and i forgot to say the control valve is black and is of a cube construction! Cheers, if i think of anything else i'll add it.

Burglars are all scum. We were robbed overnight on 26th August - woke up to find my Touareg and Wifeys BM 118i gone - keys through letterbox. One scrote was arrested jumping out of her car whilst still moving, but denies driving/stealing it so waiting for forensics. Got the BM back (nicely repaired and with new wheels which is good as we were selling it anyway and it now looks perfect), but my Touareg is still missing. Had to get an enormous overdraft and buy another car - OK I bought an Audi A8 4.2 quattro so the OD is bigger than strictly necessary but I deserve it!

Scum the lot of them, bring back hanging etc.

Can you make the stuff again easily or is it special in some way. If it's just replacing the bits I'm sure the guys on here will have stuff around for mates rates.

This is the lastest tactic that the thievies are employing, well within the last few years anyway as modern motors are so difficult to steal without the keys.

They use anything from improvised fishing rods to bodged together bits to hook your keys if they are in sight of the letter box.

Most, thankfully are opportunists and and will leave things be if there are no keys in sight, but the next stage on from this is to get your keys using violence, especialy if you've got a nice tasty motor (more than likely being stolen to order or broken up for parts).

Just try not to leave keys in the hallway!!!!

How addled does a druggy scum have to be to steal changewheels for a lathe?? Car stereos I understand, but random screwcutting gears?

This is the lastest tactic that the thievies are employing, well within the last few years anyway as modern motors are so difficult to steal without the keys.

A friend of mine ended up fighting in the hallway with a couple of thieves after his car keys 'til his 70 year old mom laid into them with her walking stick!
Unfortunately they they won a couple of weeks later by knocking him out by his garage when putting the car away
