EPB and MoT test

Both citroens and peugeots, with rear wheel handbrakes, unfortunately not seperate handbrake shoes so its the main brakes.

I hate seperate handbrake shoes with a passion - Volvo XC90's - BMW's - later Qashqai's - VW Crafter vans - Kia Sedonas - all with handbrake shoes from the factory which really were'nt big enough for the job.

I prefer non EPB calipers with handbrake mechs built into them... Far easier to service.

I gave up mechanics ages ago so know nothing about electric handbrakes or calipers that need diagnotic to service.Got out at a good time I think.

The missus has a 2011 Kia Rio w.4 petrol.
Decent little car... but the handbrake shoes behind & inside the disc hub!!!!
One of the retaining clips through the backplate corroded & broke affecting the brake.
But... trying to remove the disc to access for repair - the shoe with the broken retainer would twist... & jam the bloody disc on! AARGHH!
By the time I got it off the shoe lining was wrecked - so I had to buy new shoes - not to mention the sheer frustration & difficulty!
