A couple of months ago I had a guy turn up at the workshop on the recommendation of another customer: I seem to get all of the unusual one-off jobs that no-one else wants to do.
This gentleman wanted the frame of his motorised paracsender modified so he could replace the fitted as standard 100cm Ø propeller with a larger 130cm Ø propeller, and so hopefully increase his rate of climb and overall speed.
How it was before I got my hands on it:
I have rolled up the new 1.4 meter diameter ring from 5/8" X 16g ERW tube and have temporarily placed it for measuring and positioning before cutting off the original 1.1 metre diameter ring:
The 1.1 metre ring has now been cut away, and two strips of steel have been tacked in place so I can bend up and fit the necessary supports:
Measuring up for the additional support struts:
Positioning the new stand:
Squaring and equalling everything up before final welding.
All the welding has been done now and it is time for an inspection of my work before passing the now modified frame back to the customer ready for shot blasting, powder-coat painting, and reassembly, before returning it to the skies of Norfolk.
