Engine crane replacement master cylinder?

It seems to be working without the packer (just the oring). I guess the oring probably wont last as long, but this unit gets so little use (which is why this has happened) that the oring will, i hope, last a while.

I had similar with a jack I was given and all I did was put two O rings in it. It still works years later.

This has been a useful thread with the links as the ram on my cousins hoist wont raise much more than a few inches so the links show where he van get a new jack for it.

I don't understand your question?

I talked about the oring above and awemawson commented on the backing ring.

It was somewhat misplaced by several later posts. So not really relevant now. But it seemed that you thought that any old bodge would do and it didn't need a sealing surface, was my take on your comment.

When mine did that it was just air, open the release valve then pump it till fluid gets past the screw and lock it up again then try it. I had to top the hydraulic fluid up a bit as well.
