Please can someone educate me on end mills. I have a set of banggood solid carbide end mills as reviewed by John (doubleboost) on youtube. Very impressed with them. I also have a face mill which uses 1604 Inserts.
My mill is a warco minor and I'm very happy with it. I only take light cuts but I'm in no rush!
Now I'm looking at a indexable end mill for squaring up the edges of 6mm plate etc. The spec of my mill says 16mm end mill max. I've used up to 12mm. So basically can I use bigger if it's indexable as my 50mm indexable face mill works fine.
I was thinking a 16mm single insert 1604 or a 20mm or 25mn 2 insert 1604 for general milling. Are these too big for my mill to handle? Would like to stick with 1604 inserts as I use them on my face mill.
Do these end mills only cut on the bottom or can I run in from the side like I can with my solid carbide end mills.
Still learning, but enjoying myself!
