Emergency tyre repair kit?

I'm trading in the Ranger tomorrow, moving to a car with no spare. I have one of those jump start/inflator packs but nothing else.

What else is worth carrying to potentially help get you to the nearest tyre centre if you get a flat?

Obviously this depends on the placement and size of the trauma, if it's too bad then it's a wait for the recovery vehicle. This enquiry is for punctures that are at least temporarily fixable, allowing you to limp to a garage.

I've had a repair kit since I was 16 on mopeds, pretty standard sticky rubber strings, the reamer/drill, glue pouches, strings and a set of flush cutters, plus about 10 little co2 bottles and a shrader valve adapter...2 will fill a bike tyre, I used 8 on a 265/65/16 and barely had enough pressure to drive home so I'd keep a pump as well

I'm in the same boat with my current car. I found a flat tyre when I returned to it after a day's outing and used the little compressor and bottle of tyre goop. It worked perfectly.
I ordered a tyre string kit to make a more 'permanent' repair to this 2k mile tyre.
When I came to do this I found the tyre had not lost any pressure and the TPM still worked.
The 'temporary' repair has lasted long enough for the tyre to be ready for replacement in the next month or so.

The tyre repair goop is stupidly expensive and officially has a fairly short shelf life.

However, neither of these would have worked the last time I had a puncture on a ridiculously low 30-profile tyre. By the time I found a safe place to pull over, the side wall was shredded. That car had an emergency spare wheel .

I have an emergency spare now, but I have no place to store it neatly. I have breakdown insurance through my bank and would rely on that in the UK. The spare and jack would be my backup if travelling abroad.

String kits. My Mazda 6 currently has two fitted awaiting completion of my manual tyre machine.

Ideally get them changed for proper tyre repairs within a month, they can loose their stickyness.

Test the pump.
Check the date on the tyre weld .

Carry a spare bottle/can of tyre weld.
They do work on slow puncture but not much else.
My company car had that set up.

And your tyre fitter will hate you for it. When it works it works though, it's just usually gone off by the time you need it

I know. I'm braced for the glare when he finds out. But as I'll be giving him nearly £750 to replace all 4 tyres, he can moan as much as he likes!

As to what I carry, I won’t have a car without a spare wheel. So all ours have spares in them.

I bought a spare wheel and tyre for my Kia Sportage. I took out the polystyrene moulding exposing the tyre well and mounting point. I made a bolt and washer to hold it down.
Our potholes don't take prisoners.

The goopy stuff and pump work well, and the goopy stuff seems to work beyond shelf life, but we put real spare wheels in all of our cars at work. (We do as @badabec does.)

Yes they are brilliant. Had two punctures in motorcycle rear tyres and they fixed both until the tyres wore out.

Our car has a space saver but it had no jack or wheel brace. I bought a jack from eBay and an extending brace from a local spares shop.

When the bike shop was open a chap came in with a puncture and I commented on the self tapper stuck in the tread. He said he put it in to get him to the shop for a repair.

If the car you are moving to has space for a spare, even if it's just a space saver, I'd be finding one and putting it in along with a jack etc.

Like others, I've done this with all my (and the wife's) vehicles since the 'no spare' became a thing and whilst it has only been needed twice (that I can recall) they were money well spent.

Same here, can't beat a proper spare even if it's a space saver.

I bought a car that came with one of those exptendin j-shaped braces. Come the time I wanted to use it, it sheared off!

Cue a two mile walk home to get something better along single track roads in the dark . . . great fun!

I now carry a long, defunct, torque wrench and suitable socket.

I'm pretty sure there won't be much room under the load area, it's an EV with a large battery so probably not. However the wife's Puma EV is huge in the boot so who knows. I'll have a probe about tomorrow.

Will probably need a jack and wheel brace. I have an extending Tommy bar I used on the Disco 3 as the brace that came with it was made of cheese and snapped the first time I used it.

Had decent puncture in work car yesterday, lost all air and had drive a couple hundred yards on rim to safe spot and lucky beads stayed on, no spare but some 3 year old goop and compressor. Needed a bit of help with a finger over the hole in the tyre to limit the goop coming out and get some initial air into the tyre but once I got something in and drove another half mile to redistribute the sealant with a bit of centrifugal action it sealed ok and I managed to fill to correct pressure and it stayed for the rest of the trip home. Never used the goop for a tyre that was completely flat and losing so much air on filling before and quite impressed it did the job.
