Electronics / PCB repair companies?

I’ve got a problem with a plastic injection unit, and managed to (I hope) narrow it down to a PCB by comparing it to a working unit, however the working one is older and has different wiring / electronics. Maybe the relay has failed? The PCB is currently unavailable from the manufacturer.

Perton electronics isn’t a million miles from you.

Would you be confident unsoldering and replacing the relay and those two blue MOVs beside it? The rest of the board is a line filter and unlikely to be the problem. We could probably help you with ordering replacements.

Before doing that, check for a voltage across the relay coil, and that it’s clicking when supposed to be on.

Probably just about within my skill level, though I might wait until it’s ‘nothing to lose’ time. The trouble is I haven’t got a working one to compare when exactly the relay is supposed to click, perhaps immediately as the unit display doesn’t come on at all on the faulty one when powered up.

There’s a guy that repairs stuff for a pharma place I go to, he has a good reputation for looking after their older gear that they can no longer get replacements for.

If you measure the resistance across the coil of the relay first and make sure it hasn't shorted, then you can put a multimeter across the coil in volts setting. If there's volts but no click, then the relay's failed

There’s also burned contacts, which you can clean if tight-fisted. May not last. I use a business card soaked in contact cleaner, having been told off for using abrasives.
