Electronic repair - induction centrifugal casting unit

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a company who might be able to repair this Italian generator panel for a centrifugal induction casting unit?

I don’t know what’s wrong with it but it’s approx £3K to replace or return to Italy for repair, just wondering if there’s a chance it could be repaired in the UK.

Looks like a PLL inverter. What are the symptoms, no heat, does it try or error? Is there a display?

Id suspect the output stage mosfets/driver and capacitors would be the place to start. Mosfets look like they are on the under side of the top board.

As its watercooled.Id be checking carefully for sign of leaks.

Give tec arc a call surely if they can diagnose and repair inverter welders they must have electronic guru's that can repair stuff at board level , worth a try .

Do all the simple hand & eye checks with it unplugged, on all connectors & cable joints
Where does the green plug with brown wires bottom right of photo fit? Has it fallen out the socket?

I haven’t seen it in person yet. The disconnected cable is the incoming power just disconnected to prove that this is the unit causing the breaker to trip.

That says S/C MOSFets.

Yeah mosfets should be quite simple if your lucky the driver chip will be fine.
They look like large bolt on mosfets,possibly an easy no solder repair - normal soldered mosfets are a pain to replace particually SMD ones.

We're assuming that's an over current trip rather than earth leakage, but could you confirm?
If over current then I'm in agreement with @Kram and @ajlelectronics - MOSFETS. Looking at the board markings Q1 and Q2.
The other two are CRx so maybe thyristors (SCR's).

If earth leakage then maybe some EMC filter components on the input.

Must get me eyes tested. I looked at the board an thought those Posiscrews were 16 presets!
It should be repairable by someone with a bit of electronic experience.
