Electronic garage roller door control unit .

One of the two key fob controllers for opening closing or stopping our electric garage door opener has died .
I've cleaned the contacts , put in a new tested battery , cleaned the membrane so it seats on th switches coerectly and also cleaned the switches with an electronic cleaning aerosol spray .

There are no code numbers inside of either control unit
I've found a similar looking replacement unit on eBay

The info on the page says it is preprogrqmmed . Unfortunately the company selling them say they are so busy that they do not respond to email enquiries

Has any one had such a replacement control fob unit if so did you need to reprogramme . If it had to be reprogrammed how did you do it ?

We only received one fob with our promatic one which came with the house. I wanted to ensure nobody else had a registered fob do I emailed the company and they sent me the instructions. It involved resetting the registered fobs and pairing again the fob we had.

It was quite simple. I think you just held the button on the opener till it started flashing then press and hold one of the buttons on the remote to register that opener to that button. Yours has an up and down key though so maybe slightly different..

Since I posted I found some You Tube clips for all manner of fob control units .. none quite like ours though unfortunately .

But there does appear to be a commonality about the programming of similar fobs . There are no dilswitches in the fob to play with , nor is there a numbered frequency crystal can .

It may well be ....on the new unit only ...... hold both left keys on the fob simultaneously till the unit does something like gives flashing lights on it to say it is clearing down & then it may be that I'll have to do a simple press the same button on both fobs at the exact same time to activate that button the do the rest till I've done them all .

Actually I think Ill try again tomorrow as it's a bit late tonight ... don't want to upset the mutt next door off , nor upset her dog .

On the faulty fob I tried one of the key fob clear memory button push exercises . Surprise surprise the LED lit up after pressing the sequence " clear " in .
I then tried the one for one reprogramming off the working key .. it works !

I think I'll get a spare fob though & programme it up as it's been a bit of a pain with the only one being kept on my key ring , as wife & daughter keep taking my set of keys to open the garage then leaving them anywhere but where they should be .... hanging down inside a cupboard on their own hook .
