Set up the cemont and had a go and I notice my blue tungstons are disappearing im dcen
I'm not contaminating them, I wonder if it would be because they are a no name ones, they where £7 for 10 which I feel is to cheap.

In other news the cemont is beautiful, had to weld up some tubes and weld them to an exhaust I've made for a machine. I feel I got a good grasp on position of the torch I just know I would have had nice welds if the electrode didn't burn up as it balled up and made an unstable wide arc just became hard work.

Also mig is playing up hence the new tig was used.

They are 2% 1.6mm welding on 40amp I think they are just cheap rubbish

I believe so although I'm not impressed with the collet body and ceramic currently only have a 6 My new gas lens and ceramics should arrive tomorrow then I'll have aproper play.

Cheers for your help I found that out when I first tested it on argosheild was surprising.

Cheap or not the tungsten shouldn't be disappearing in DC neg. there is no loading on it. 40 amps is fine for a 1.6 so I'm wondering if it's gas like tig man suggested. Any amount of active gas on that tungsten will cause your issue whether it's from the air we breathe or the content in the cylinder. You need pure argon and 6-8 lpm measure it at the torch. Your not in mma mode are you or dcep. That would certainly cause the issue

Again all these parts can be the lowest cheapest rubbish around it shouldn't make your tungsten melt or blow away. There is something wrong with your set up.

Check for torch leaks. Something as simple as damaged O ring on the back cap can cause all sorts of problems. Cheap consumable parts wont make much difference as long as electrical contact is good and there are no leaks.

I know you are all right on the gas. I'll have a proper look later to be honest I was in to much of a rush to look properly.

I have to say the tig is as relaxing as gas welding just so much more convenient. So much nicer than mig I love the control and you can see if it's got full penertration.
The cemont is a fantastic machine brilliant on mma rods just light up with ease. HF is instant and relaible in tig setting my only dislike is that the 4t has no down slope it just switches off

Now have a new gas lens and more ceramics running at 4-5 LPM and the tungsten's are staying sharp.

Think the over problem was being to far away by about a 1mm

Also check gas post flow, the tungstens need to cool below melting point before the gas stops. The gas flow seems a bit low, I'm running 10 lpm with a no. 7 or 8 gas lens, post flow 12 seconds.

Your just wasting gas at 10lpm mate, even on aluminum I only run 7 max, do you have a gas lens ?

Thick stainless is where I would be close to that sort of post time (10-12 seconds maybe) but the reason is more aimed for protection of the weld bead while it solidifies and cools. The tungsten will need a post flow to protect it also while cooling but 6-8 seconds is plenty for that.

Regarding lpm my Alu and mild is done at 5lpm stainless 6lpm
