The installation. House has 3 phase as a long while back it had night storage heaters. One phase supplies my garage and hobby workshop via a 45amp fused switch. The garage and workshop each have their own consumer units with "wire" 30 amp fuses on a "30 ma trip"
Yesterday I was using my 40 year old radial arm woodworking saw and after two cuts, squeezed the trigger for a third , the saw stated to turn then died taking out the 45 amp fuse in the house.
I'm assuming that there's some sort of catastrophic motor failure in the saw and haven't dared try again!
If that's the case why didn't it take out its own 13amp fuse or the 30amp on the workshop ring?.
Probably time that I had the installation updated to micro whatsits but its been an expensive two years since retirement!!
