I'm installing my newly refurbished generator set in an open barn used for storing animal feed among other things. So vermin are always present.
As constructed the control cabinet, which is 36" wide by 18" deep by 60" tall had a nicely sealed door (I know as I've replaced the seal!) but it's base is completely open as in it's previous life that's where the cables ran. I've fitted sealed sockets on the outside so no longer need the open base. My initial intention was to just fit a fine mesh in the base to keep the rats and mice at bay, but it occurs to me just sheeting it over in (say) 1.2 mm Zintec would be more robust and actually easier.
Now nothing is dissipating any significant power in the cabinet as I've replaced the old relay controls with a Deep Sea 3110 microprocessor control that consumes peanuts. The only real source of heat is the 80 watt cabinet heater intended to fight winter condensation, and that is thermostatically controlled.
SO: do you anticipate any issues if I just blank off the base ?
