Electric Towel Rail

Hi All,
Doing my bathroom up , plans include an electric towel rail , I intend to run it off a programmable timer in the loft , my question is do the thermostats ( digital ) that come with these lose their setting if power is interuppted ? Or do I just go with a low power element and let it run , programmable control will be set for a couple of hours am and pm ,

No just electric , the option is there though ,

I put one of these on ours...or very similar....ip rated, and suitable to have in the bathroom right next to the rail.
You can set it to stay on permanently at 4/5 diferent levels, or you can put it on a 2 hour timer, gives it a chance to get up to max temp then cuts off. I usually turn onto the 2 hr, warms up while im messing about and showering, chuck towels on it when im done, gives them a chance to dry, and turns its self off.

If its areally cold spell, I just leave it ticking over on the lowest seting.

I just leave the valve open and the element on all the time. Heating chops in and out as normal when required - radiator stays hot regardless.

I turn the valves off in the warm months and leave it electric only, or we have wet towles

if its tapped in to the heating system watch out because if its the rad that needs bleeding all the time it can empty and burn the element out

I discovered I didn't need to turn the valves off - the element keeps the towel rail as hot as usual and so is left on all the time. When the heater cuts in, I guess the little element adds its little bit to heating the rest of the house

Rad needs bleeding of a few seconds of air once or twice a year - there's several feet of radiator between the bleed screw and the top of the element running up one of the tubes - if if got that much air in, we'd notice the temp drop pretty quickly!

i fit one at a punters house and either she was lazy or didnt bother looking and burnt it out. our bathroom radiator needs doing regular dunno where all the air comes from

Mine loses is settings if the power is interrupted.

I tried some in the tall "designer" radiators I was persuaded to fit in the bedroom and kitchen - every morning the bedroom one woke me gurgling and chuntering - fitted the bleeds . . . and every morning, it woke me, chuntering and gurgling. If I opened the bleed I left in the other side, air would come out . .

The solution turned out to be easy - she left, I removed the radiator and fitted a normal one, and sold the other on local facebook
