Could you put up a photo of the thing that trip? I think everyone assumes it's an RCD but just to be sure.Main trip - I mean the main switch in the consumer unit that kills the power to everything.

a main double pole switch will not trip its an isolator you will probably have an rcd mainswitchMain trip - I mean the main switch in the consumer unit that kills the power to everything.
it is a double pole rcd mainswitch then https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Consumer_Units_Index/BG_RCD/index.htmlI'm not there now but I'm 99% certain it's an RCD main switch. Its not double pole as its only one switch with a test button on it.
If it's tripping out the whole board it must be double poleI'm not there now but I'm 99% certain it's an RCD main switch. Its not double pole as its only one switch with a test button on it.
My thoughts exactly.Rats.
What did it taste like?My thoughts exactly.

That good eh?It didn't hang around.
I'll get a picture tomorrow. I dontnknow why but I always get this wrong and it throws all the advice people can give.If it's tripping out the whole board it must be double pole![]()
Would not just connecting a length of cable from the cooker MCB, having pulled the existing circuit cable from the MCB first?Disconnect the wiring where it goes into the back of the cooker, stick it in some choc strip or wagos, and try it.
If it doesn't trip you know its down to the oven and you aren't chasing a red herring.
If it is the oven then it is leaking to earth and to trace that further you are really going to need an IR tester.
Another thing you could try is disconnecting the element and try it - just to double check.
