Hi, i have been given an old eland 230 , the control panel is covered in paint dust that obscures the instructions. any one out there could help with a picture of control panel. also if i was to attack the over spray on the panel are the original markings robust to stay while the paint is removed.

If its an old machine the panel may be more robust than the modern type with vinyl transfer, printing etc.
I would try a corner with some turps first, if that fails some celly thinners, acetone or nail varnish remover.

As a member said in another thread, put up a picture of the panel and I'm sure we will be able to help identify the controls, I have an eland 160, its an excellent pro quality machine.
From what I remember of the bigger elands, they hat a spot weld timer at top left, stitch timer to the top right, coarse voltage control and fine voltage control, wire speed pot, and the obligatory on off switch, pretty basic really.

I cleaned-up one of my MIGs that was paint-splattered, using a gasket scraper (basically a Stanley knife blade with a handle)... keep the blade as flat as possible and you can flake-off most of the spatter without taking the original lettering off.
For general grime and light spatter you could flash-wipe over it with acetone but be quick or it will take everything off

Does this help, the 230 should have 2 voltage settings coarse and fine, other than that I think they are the same, Its been a while since I used one though.
