I've got a pre turbo Exhaust Temperature Sensor to change on my Van which has probably been there for the 18 years the vans been on the road. I can just about get my finger tips to it, which means it's going to be a socket on an extension and hope and prey that it comes undone job.
The question for you wise people is, do I want to get it as hot as possible before I try to undo it, or am I better off going for it cold?
I'm guessing the hotter the better, but whats the perceived wisdom? The last thing I want to be doing is stripping half the engine to get at the manifold when it snaps off or strips the threads.
