Edge Setter/Joggler with Hole Punch

Hi

I am restoring a Bug and also have a camper to restore. will these be of help when replacing the panels?

if you have access to an air compressor you can get an "air punch / flange tool", which will save a lot of hand ache

Thanks I'm looking to get a 3hp 150ltr compressor soon, (VAT free day at machine mart) do you mean one like this.

Do you still have to use it then move it an inch then use it or can you run it along the edge in one continuous move?

yep and yep, you have to move it bit by bit as it has to release first but as soon as it's done that keep going, its quite quick. the punch side's great for doing one sided spot welds.
have a read of the air compressor thread and make sure you get a vapour filter/oiler when you get the compressor as i lent my punch/flange to a mate who killed with water in the air!

but make sure you get the right input/output size as you don't want to restrict the air flow,post the question of the compressor thread more knowledge

I picked up a hand one in b&q a couple of years ago. It was in the bargain bucket, with no price on. I enquired, but none of them knew what it was, so even though it should have been £40, i got it for £10

This is one of them things Ive been meaning to get, but I did see a pic somewhere of a joddler made from a old door hinge. It had two strips welded onto it, one to each side so when the hinge closed they werent in the same place, with a slight gap between the two. You stick it in the vice, tighten up and voilla, joddled edge...

I saw an hand operated swaging machine go on ebay for £50 couple of days ago. there brilliant 2 long arms with a variety of wheels to go with it. you clamp the metal between the arm and turn the handle and it does the full length of the metal with out having to stop. lots of diffferent edges possible even corrugated. mainly used in ducting work but great for joggling as well.

i used to have one of those they work very well

and the punch is very handy for plug welding panels

i now have one that rolls along the panel with the aid of a socket and racthet

it's very easy to use
