Eccentric vise: boiling in hot caustic

small project: today's purchase, opening and jaw dimensions 125mm*125mm*h40mm.

All parallel guides were scraped at the factory and are in excellent condition.

cleaning:
Approximately 2 hours exposure at +80C in aqueous solution ~10% NaOH.
I wanted to boiled , but I got tired of waiting for the temperature to rise. The alkali removed the paint almost completely and the old, literally petrified oil. The cleanup process is self-executing, no hassle.

I think this is either in-house production or an unknown factory from Yugoslavia. All parts are marked with assembly number 74.

More or less like this

A few holes left by an unknown hand-crooked owner (and a corresponding repaint), who did not understand the value and quality of these vices, I decided to fill with metal-filled epoxy. Messing around with TIG soldering brass will probably be too much.

Still in thought, apply a preliminary liquid two-layer polyester putty or immediately coat with hammer enamel from a spray gun.

This is small work. Well, like this.. Ahead of the much larger iron. Lathe and milling machine + a mountain of auxiliary equipment. It will be fun.
