Eberspacher exhaust repair

One of the few floating around the shed has a corroded exhaust port the one on the right, how would you repair this?
I thought about tapping it and screwing a fitting in? Would rather sell it as a runner than a spares one

That looks a bit ********. How thick is the steel around that exhaust? Could it let the gas out there instead of where it should do. There is a lot of work there.

Forget the steel bit that's just a mount. The alloy casing reacts with the stainless exhaust causing them to rot

Forget it , the exhaust is actually cast with the heat exchanger, it badly coroded and the heat exchanger integrity has to be suspect , whilst you can remove the turret plate , I suspect the studs will also come out of the exchanger,

Which model is it ?

The tin work is just tin work easy fix there, the casing is not repairable, if it definitely a working heater I would be tempted to put it back in the shed till a none working D1 came up like this one for a tenner.

Then its probably at least 20 years old as the Airtronic 1 has stopped production , replaced with Airtonic 2 , D1l and D1lc parts are getting short supply now as well , to replace the heat exchanger would more or less be the value of the heater.

This is the only one I have left well apart from a couple of Chinese ones, one in the camper one still in the box as I still haven't fitted it!

Lol, no worries. I got both those ones I had of you two years ago working over Christmas which was a result, just need the extra bits so I can have both working at the same time, oh and sorting out two 24v power sources as well

I just don't want to scarp this but the same as you I dont have the other bits to make it go

Have you looked at using server power supplies? Some one on here showed me how to make one work as they need a few links to make them come on DC12v output but they are cheap and product high amp outputs.

I did, they pinged me a link a few weeks ago, it just looked a bit convoluted to do and I didn't have time to read the pages of threads on the RC forums about doing it. The Chinese power supplies are about £60 but I made the mistake of buying one rated at 20a and its not enough

Running of 2 12v truck batteries at the moment but would really like to make them into a couple of semi portable units that I can move around workshops.
