Started to list on e-bay an almost new cb/radio ham radio i've got ,all was ok until it said i have have paypal as a payment method ,and they would hold the funds for 21days, sooner if i recieved positive feedback.What i want is to sell the radio have it picked up and cash paid if buyer is happy!unfortunatley there are a lot of "screwdriver merchants" who think they can improve a radio by tweaking things....the radio is nearly new has tamperproof stickers on the sides and works well.As a seller i only have cover if i send the radio and have proof of postage,this does not proove the radio works.....Paypals best advice is get buyer to come aound check radio then post it to them grrrrrrrrr.......Gav

I'm trying hard to ban myself from evilbay at the moment so all this pushy paypal nonsense sort of helps with that.

Trying to buy or sell anything without paypal is a nightmare but it shouldn't be so.

In your position I'd be tempted to mark in the item description "cash on collection only" and if it appears with paypal you could even state that it wouldn't let you list it without.

Outline your reasons, as you have here - decent people buying or selling decent stuff shouldn't be put off...

Crazy thing ,,,,cash on collection is what i want ....so the thing can be seen working ,,,,,domonstrated and prooved,,,,i have nothig to hide, Ebay insist that paypal is an option ,paypal is part of e-bay....vicious circle...would u want to sell a welder? a car? a computer and take the chance the new owner won't break it and then complain within 20 days?....bit of a gamble

I know there's a delay on e-cheques but the whole point of Paypal is that you get instant payment and can send the goods straight away, is your account all set up without any restrictions for receiving too much funds or anything?

The escrow rule is for people with either only a few feedback or with a few negs. It shouldn't affect most people.

I'd list as accepting Paypal or cash, but sell it "collection only", no-one in their right mind is gonna pay by paypal first then come and collect.

Even if they do (there's a fair number of ebayers not in their right-mind), you can refund their paypal payment with no fees to pay.

Anyroad, that's what I'd do (and did last week with some alloy wheels).

People slate ebay, but if you work it to your advantage (and take into account that when they've taken your listing fees and paypal fees they end up with 10%), there's bargains to be had.

I needed 2 new tyres last week, £80 each, ouch.

So I bought some mint 16" wheels with almost new tyres for £56 and sold my old nasty 15" set with 2 dodgy tyres for £50. Sole 'em through ebay, but not "through" ebay if you know what i mean, for cash, then cancelled the ad, no fees

Please note: If you should accept Paypal in combination with personal collect the buyer must sign a receipt. Otherwise you would have no proof of delivery...

I'm not accepting paypal for payments anymore, their a bunch of bankers. They always side with the buyer no matter what. I just had £350 clawed back because buyer of a playstation said there was ho hdi lead in with it.
You can't speak to them only by email and per set messages, their useless, KEEP CLEAR advertise cash on collection only

You can phone their office, there's a number available for eBay and PayPal...

You are entitled to claim through trading standards aswell and get the PayPal claim reversed.
If you know a solicitor you can issue a letter for theft to the buyer aswell and force them to pay, albeit minus the cost for the hdi lead.

Edit: Go to your local police station too and explain the situation that the buyer has effectively "stolen" the playstation. They should be happy to help, you should have the guys address from the PayPal transaction

I have less than 50 feedbacks 100% positive ,not sure where the cut off is for the 21 day rule,and eveybody must have paypal as an option to pay ,its a rip.......i'm undecided which way i will go to be honest ....

Ebay have become hugely greedy; 10% for what they do is ridiculous profiteering. I'm trying out Ebid at the moment, but it's not looking good as regards sales.

I gave-up on FeeBay some time ago. I was a powerseller with over 8000 feedback, but the constantly changing rules and increasing fees meant it wasn't worth my while anymore. Ebay seems intent on screwing itself into the ground, and these new 'seller and buyer protection' policies seem to attract more scammers and crooks than before. You'd be better-off selling your CB through a CB website forum or even Gumtree. Either that or state 'cash on collection' on your listing.

I did try Ebid for a while as an alternative to Ebay, but like Penfold had poor sales. Worth the £50 lifetime membership though.

as for ebay generally its getting worse the new searches and my ebay pages and not being able to leave bad feedbacl for buyers it just stupid
